The Movie The SIX TRIPLE EIGHT from Tyler Perry and Starring Kerry Washington tells the story of a group of all-Black women who helped WW2 troops in Europe get their letters from back home and process the letters those soldiers wrote to their families back in the U.S.
Part of this true story happened in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. A small community in North Georgia just south of Chattanooga, Tennessee and just outside the historic Civil War Battlefield at Chickamauga. Fort Oglethorpe was an Army post for decades and many troops in the southeast were processed there as they were on their way to fight in WW2.
This clip is edited from segments in 2020 and 2021 focused on a documentary made about this story and an exhibit at the now closed 6th Cavalry Museum in Fort Oglethorpe.
