Update about K2 winter climb, Nirmal Puja has confirmed that his team’s gear is gone from Camp 2 of mount K2, that high winds have totally destroyed and swept away Camp 2 along with all climbing gears; sleeping bags, mattresses, heated shoe insoles, summit gloves/mittens, summit base layers, paragliding equipment, cooking equipment, etc. Luckily No injuries as the Camp was empty.
mt. K2 summit is 8,611 meters high, which puts it about 237 meters less than Everest, but it’s considered far more technical and dangerous.
Of the 14 8,000-metre peaks, it’s the only yet to be climbed in winter, and this winter About 60+ climbers waiting at base camp to summit K2 at the moment.
With dozens of k2 winter climbers and a lot of equipment, teams hope to continue with their summit pushes this winter climbing. Let’s pray for good weather and a safe ke winter climb for all the team members. Good luck guys go for it.
