Driving the Plains is much more exciting when you find vintage shopping in little towns along the way! My recent travel along a different route (Ogden to Wichita) results in this fresh pile of fab 50’s and 60’s kitsch and modernist decor, just in time to show you as I pack for my Florida winter shows!

A naughty deck of playing cards, miniature beer bottles and a pre-1964 pack of Lucky Strikes get the party going! These “sin” items may be too controversial for Kansas and Utah collectors, but will find ready buyers down south.

Modern art glass from Murano of Italy and Rainbow of West Virginia in similarly vivid colors and styles reveal their differences. A 1960s fabric school letter appears presidential! I also demonstrate how to appear as if you can play the harmonica, helped by a 1930s example.

Costs and expected selling prices punctuate the video to help aspiring resellers and collectors both understand the market. There’s also clues identifying early Sascha Brastoff and pre-1980 Zippo lighters. 

I hope my review of what I found in the rural midwest helps you learn more about antique and vintage items, and share my encounters with them in the real world. I love sharing our passion and this community, and hope we will all help each other with our antique education.
