Tamil Nadu former CM Jayalalithaa appointed Panneerselvam as new Chief Minster. He is presently as Finance Minister of state and he served as chief minister for six months from September 2001 when Jayalalithaa had to step down because of the Tansi case. He has remained more loyal than expected during his governance as Ex-CM.
