A Varanasi court on Thursday reserved its judgment in the Gyanvapi Shrinagar Gauri dispute case and will rule on the necessity of carbon dating the purported "Shivling" at the Kashi Vishwanath temple-Gyanvapi mosque complex on October 7, 2022. According to the Hindu side's attorney Vishnu Shankar Jain, the Muslim side submitted their case before the court and argued against carbon dating. In contrast to what the Hindu side said, the Muslim side asserted that the "Shivling" is a fountain. Jain announced after leaving court that the court had reserved judgment and will issue a ruling in this case on October 7.
