The Whipple procedure, also termed as Pancreaticoduodenectomy, is a surgical procedure done to treat tumors and other disorders of the pancreas, the intestine and the bile duct. It is a complicated procedure primarily used to treat pancreatic cancer confined to the head of the pancreas, part of the adjacent small intestine called the duodenum, the common bile duct, and the gallbladder.
