Today, February 25, 2011, marks the 25th anniversary of the Legend of Zelda series. In celebration, here's a look at the multiplayer gameplay of Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures for the Gamecube, utilizing its Game Boy Advance connectivity.
In Four Swords Adventures, each player gets control of a different colored Link. Player one (SunBurntKen) is Green Link, Player 2 (MacDaddyNook) is Red Link, Player 3 (Duck) is Blue Link and Player 4 (AI) is Purple Link. Players must work together to solve puzzles and make it through each stage while also competing for the Force Gems that appear.
The first stage is Lake Hylia. It's a simple level that introduces players to the various mechanics of the game including teamwork-based puzzles and a couple of the secondary weapons; the boomerang and fire rod. The players also meet up with Tingle for the first time, who will occasionally appear on screen to steal any Force Gems if the players are not quick enough to beat him to them.
This was recorded as a test to see how a multiplayer round would look as the gameplay actually breaks between the TV screen and the individual screens on each Game Boy Advance. I may continue this game if I can find a way to capture the action when it moves to a player's GBA screen to show what does not appear on the television.
