English Gitanjali or Song Offerings is the compilation of 103 English translation of poems by Rabindranath Tagore from his different poetry books, written and published earlier. This was the first English translation of Tagore. English Gitanjali was published by India Society, London in 1st November 1912. Just after publication it was greeted with tremendous enthusiasm by the western world. Rabindranath Tagore was awarded Nobel Prize in literature (13th November 1913) for Gitanjali, which was the ascension of Tagore’s literary talent in west and made him an internationally reputed figure.
