We all know that the all-new 2023 Ford Explorer is an exceptional 4-door SUV offering new and improved functions, features, and technology from the inside out. With a sleek exterior offering impressive new features that come together to deliver an exceptional driving experience every time you leave your garage, the Ford Explorer remains one of the best SUVs you can drive.
With its 300 to 400 Horsepower range and an available 3.3 Liter Hybrid Engine, it offers the power needed to take on anything ahead. If you want to know all about the new 2023 Ford Explorer, then keep on watching this video!
The Explorer is an icon of Ford's SUV lineup, carrying three rows worth of families since 1990. Ford introduced the current sixth-generation Explorer for the 2020 model year, building on a rear-drive-based platform shared with the Lincoln Aviator.
The Ford is positioned between the two-row Edge and the three-row Expedition in Ford's SUV lineup and competes with other three-rows, including the fan favorite Kia Telluride, Subaru Ascent, and Chevrolet Traverse.
Having been on the market for three years, Ford may give the Explorer a mid cycle refresh for 2023. If that happens, the 2023 Explorer will get slightly tweaked styling plus a handful of new features, which can potentially include Ford's BlueCruise semi-autonomous driving system.
The automaker will be updating the all new 2023 Ford Explorer with a new refresh. Even though it was originally just a rumor, it has been confirmed that the mid-size SUV will see several new changes.
Ford is yet to release any details on whether American markets will see the new updates. It is still being determined, however, if these changes will only be for the Chinese Explorer model. Despite this uncertainty, it is really good to see Ford giving attention to its combustion engine lineup.
Now, one of the first updates consumers will notice right away with the new 2023 Ford Explorer is its front grille. The mid-size SUV has received a wider grille as well as new chrome accents. The all new 2023 Explorer also gets redesigned LED headlights. Ford has also equipped the mid-size SUV with 21-inch alloy wheels.
At the rear of the SUV, consumers will note a pair of wider tail lights as well as Explorer lettering. This lettering has replaced the Ford badge on the tailgate, and a chrome bar has been added between the taillights.
The all new 2023 Ford Explorer will come paired with more powerful engine options that help it to achieve such high performance. The engine options will include:
A 3.3L V-6 hybrid that with a horsepower of 318
A 2.3L EcoBoost I-4 that will sport a horsepower of 300
A 3.0L EcoBoost V-6 that which will sport a horsepower of 365
Also, a second variant of the 3.0L EcoBoost V-6 that will boast a horsepower of 400 and this will only be available in the ST trim.
Comparing these to the Telluride, all engines offer more horsepower without jeopardizing fuel efficiency. The Telluride comes with a 3.8L V-6 engine that generates just 291 horsepower and it has an estimated fuel economy of around 23 combined mpg. On the other hand, the Explorer has an estimated fuel economy of up to 24 combined mpg, and the Hybrid has a gas mileage of up to 27 combined mpg.
The latest Ford Explorer can handle lots of power without any problem, and Ford takes full advantage. Also, its sturdy turbocharged four-cylinder base engine easily outpaces the competition. Also, there's a bonkers turbo V6 in the Explorer ST for those who believe too much is never enough.
A 10-speed transmission helps both along. It kicks down faithfully when you need it to, but in the city traffic, when you are just lightly getting on and off the gas, its shifting is too indecisive.
For adventure lovers, the ‘23 Explorer offers buyers a much more capable vehicle thanks to its off-roading and towing capabilities. Though the Telluride offers buyers an AWD (All-Wheel Drive) system, the Explorer has a more advanced Four-Wheel Drive system that helps it to move more efficiently through rugged terrain.
The Explorer also has a 5,600-pound towing capacity, while the Telluride offers a 5,500-pound towing capacity. The Ford Explorer also provides a higher ground clearance (8.7 inches) than the Telluride (8.4 inches). Even with the Telluride's rugged new X-Line and X-Pro trims, they still need to compare to the Explorer's off-road capabilities on the Timberline trim.
The new 2023 Ford Explorer is better for off-road use. This greater off-road prowess is due to multiple reasons. For one, the Explorer offers a more advanced four-wheel drive system with a terrain management system.
