Welcome to Donegal County Museum.
Based in part of the old Letterkenny Workhouse, which was built in 1846, the Museum is home to a varied collection of fascinating objects that tell the story of Donegal from the Stone Age to the Twentieth century.

The building was renovated by Donegal County Council and opened as a Museum in 1988.
The museum organizes an active exhibition and events programme both within the Museum building and throughout the County. Children can become a Museum Detective by searching for clues and discovering more about Donegal with the Museum Detectives Backpack. Visitors to the Museum can also view the North West Film Archive and the Donegal Islands Film and Radio Archive to learn more about Donegal’s history over the past 70 years.
