The Azores have a lot of similarities to the Hawaiian Islands, but that’s not true when it comes to the beaches.

Mosteiros is famous for its sunsets, behind the two massive rock formations that rise from the ocean. The town adjacent is an old fishing village.
You can hike along the rocky shore, where you’ll often find Portuguese man-o-wars washed up.
Above the beach are a couple cafes, with perfect ocean views.
Not far away, down a winding road, you’ll find another scenic coastline.
Ponta da Ferraria is home to more beautiful rock formations, plus a natural hot spring pool. Geothermal waters mix with waves from the ocean. You’ll want to come here at low tide.
São Miguel is home to several of these natural pools, including one which used to be part of a whaling factory.
Santa Barbara is the biggest stretch of sandy beach on São Miguel. It’s almost a mile long.
The beach here is popular with swimmers and surfers. Plus it’s home to a couple cafes on the boardwalk.
The water temperature in the Atlantic Ocean around the Azores rises to around 70 degrees in the summer months. Otherwise, you'll need a wetsuit to swim for most of the year!
