"This trade agreement strengthens bilateral trade and investment, taking into account the interests of both countries. It expands opportunities for joint collaboration to achieve the sustainable development of our countries now and in the future."

"This treaty will allow 99.6% of our exportable supply to enter this market with zero tariffs. Some immediately and others gradually. With this agreement, we will have this tariff benefit on more than 800 products."

STORYLINE:
Ecuador signed a Free Trade Agreement with China, its leading non-oil trade partner, on Wednesday.
The South American country expects broad economic and employment generation benefits.
Ecuador's representatives, led by President Guillermo Lasso, signed this treaty requiring the approval of the country's Constitutional Court and the Assembly.
Among Ecuadorian products exported to the Chinese market are shrimp, bananas, cocoa, flowers, fish and minerals.
Machinery, and technological products such as cell phones, tools and vehicles, among others, are imported.
