The last of the thousands of refugees who have poured over the border into Macedonia over the last few days were moved on Tuesday night away from the border area to safer camps further inland.
The U-N High Commissioner for Refugees says about 22-thousand ethnic-Albanians, have arrived in Macedonia in the past three days, in the biggest influx since early May.
Refugees had arrived on trains and buses at the Blace border crossing point on Monday, but some were only allowed by Yugoslav authorities to cross on Tuesday.
On Tuesday evening, up to three thousand people, who had been waiting in no mans land, crossed into Macedonia.
They were transported to safer camps further inland.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
"We are now emptying the last of the people out, that have come in today, during the day, these people number anywhere between two and half to three thousand, they've been sitting in no man's land some of them since seven o'clock this morning getting processed through here. They say they actually arrived at the border yesterday and have, many of them, been waiting on the other side while they very slowly filter into the no mans land. They say there could be as many as 15-thousand people still on the other side, some of them say 10-thousand, others say 5-thousand, its extremely difficult to make sense of what's happening over there but it seems clear that there are thousands of other people still on the other side."
