Call to Worship
The Lord Jesus Christ is risen!
He is risen indeed! Alleluia!
Hymn
Alleluia, alleluia,
Give thanks to the risen Lord,
Alleluia, alleluia,
Give praise to his name.
Jesus is Lord of all the earth;
He is King of creation:
Spread the good news o’er all the earth;
Jesus has died and has risen:
We have been crucified with Christ;
Now we shall live forever:
Come, let us praise the living God;
Joyfully sing to our Saviour.

Hymn 213 This joyful Eastertide
Reading from Scripture The empty tomb – John 20: - 18
(John’s story of the empty tomb focuses on two sets of character: Mary Magdalene and two male disciples. The latter are necessary to validate the testimony of the former, since women were not regarded as valid witnesses under Jewish Law. But Peter and the beloved disciples only see the empty tomb at this stage, whereas Mary comes face to face with the risen Lord.)
