People are often surprised how many incredible waterfalls there are near NYC. This video shows 3 waterfalls all withing 1.5 hours of NYC. All are easy hikes...however Buttermilk Falls, NJ has a crazy dirt road with giant pot holes so 4 wheel drive is recommended, but the parking lot is across the street from this picture perfect fall.
#RaymondskillFalls is the tallest waterfall in Pennsylvania. The three-tiered falls is located on the Raymondskill Creek. It has two viewing platforms: one closer to the he head of the falls and one further below showing a glorious view where the falls divides he upper two drops from the lower. There is often a rainbow at this view.
#buttermilkfalls is the tallest waterfall in NJ. It is only steps away from a parking lot and requires no hiking to see. You can take the stairs up to an overlook view. You can continue hiking past the falls to Crater Lake and Hemlock Pond for an full day of exploring. Again, be warned about the difficult dirt road, it was a rough ride on our minivan, but we made it.
#Dingmansfalls is the second highest waterfall in Pennsylvania with a plunge of 130 feet. This hike has a nice flat boardwalk trail to the base of Dingmans Falls. Along the way is a beautiful hemlock ravine and a smaller water fall, Silverthread Falls. We viewed the falls from the platform but you can take the final tenth of a mile via staircase for a overlook view from the upper falls.
