The three masted topsail schooner Oosterschelde is in Auckland about to leave for Sydney.
She is the last remaining and largest representative of the large fleet of schooners that sailed under the Dutch flag at the beginning of the 20th century. The ship was built in 1917 for international trade.
The Oosterschelde has been underway for 14 months covering 22,500 miles. In New Zealand she has carried out scheduled maintenance , hauling out at Wahngarei. Work including a topside repaint , and she is looking in splendid shape ready for her voyage across the Tasman Sea..
