Calling all readers and book-lovers! Looking for a good 2021 book list? If so, this reading list is for you.
In today’s video, I am sharing 16 of my all-time favorite books! Instead of focusing on one genre, I decided to go with my favorite books across multiple genres! If you’re like me, and you love fiction but also love reading MANY other genres (self-help, health, science, etc.), then this list is for you!
First, a few of my favorite novels: Normal People by Sally Rooney (she’s an amazing writer!), City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert, Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman and Where The Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens! I didn’t even mean to choose solely female writers, but I LOVE the girl power here!
In the second category...my favorite health and wellness reads! These include a lot of well-known books such as The Blue Zones Solution by Dan Buettner, Sleep Smarter by Shawn Stevenson, The Sleep Revolution by Arianna Huffington (yes, two books about sleep, but in my mind, sleep is one of the most underrated aspects of health!), and finally, The Idiot’s Guides: Ayurveda by Sahara Rose Ketabi...this was the book that first got me into ayurveda and I took notes on EVERY page!
The third category includes my favorite mental health books! On this list: Maybe You Should Talk To Someone by Lori Gottlieb (who is a therapist going to therapy), Ikigai by Frances Miralles and Hector Garcia, 10% Happier by Dan Harris, and Tiny Beautiful Things by Cheryl Strayed (I LOVED this book and went to see the play as well!).
This next category, I’m going to call the ‘memoir’ category. I only have one book in this category and that’s Running With Scissors by Augusten Burroughs. I have not read this one in a while, but it will always be one of my favorites! I also had the incredible experience of meeting him at a school event at Johns Hopkins University, and when I asked him for life advice, his response was to “put yourself in as many uncomfortable situations as possible.” Those words have stuck with me for years!
The last category I’m calling ‘lifestyle’! This category includes The Creative Curve by Allen Gannett, Everyday Ubuntu by Mungi Ngomane, and The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod!
I would love to know YOUR favorite reads and books down below - I’m always looking for new suggestions. I hope some of these stand out to you and spark your interest! If so, start a book list and GET READING!!!
