Most of Europe doesn't get full-force hurricanes like they do in Florida, Japan or the Philippines.
Did you know that in the whole of Europe there are only two locations that have the correct conditions to form a hurricane?
1. The Balearic Sea, between the Balearic Islands and Sardinia.
2. The Ionian Sea, between Greece & Italy.
Europe get's plenty of storms and bad weather.
But in the last 20 years there have only been 10 actual hurricanes in Europe, all forming in these two areas of the Mediterranean.
I don't live in the Mediterranean so there is a good chance I might never have experienced one of these in my life.
But while on a trip to the Greek islands of Zakynthos and Kefalonia, on my last day there I got trapped in one of these Mediterranean hurricanes (or "Medicanes" as they are known).
Here's my story about being trapped in "Medicane Ianos" - one of the strongest medicane's to hit Europe since 1969.
