I got my hands on some Chaoyang Phantom tires, which I rode on multiple races. This is my unsponsored review to find out if these tyres are chinese crap or a viable alternative. We take a closer look at the Phantom speed and wet version, with and without sidewall protection.
Weight for Chaoyang Phantom: around 640g without sidewall protection
Chaoyang phantom with sidewall protection: around 690g
Post-edit:
I after two seasons and 1.200km I changed the speed rear tyre, although it could've lastet up to 1.500km.
I had even bigger difficulties with the new tires when setting them up tubeless, they were leaking air all the time.
I can only (highly) recommend these tires if you're running tubes, I do not recommend them for a tubeless set-up.
After 2.500km tha Phantom Wet is still looking strong, however, the sidegrip is greatly reduced. I would use the tire for crunching miles but not for races anymore in which I need grip.
