On a "green", and therefore greasy Vegas road/track surface - and on a cold Nevada Thursday night - it was Mercedes and McLaren who found the best compromise in terms of grip, balance and top speed. Sir Lewis Hamilton was fastest in both sessions; and Lando Norris finished the evening P2, ahead of George Russell. Ferrari were fourth and fifth but Red Bull were way down the lists, struggling with tyre temperatures. It was a scrappy day overall but some trends are already evident, as Peter details in this video.
