How many times you wish if you have a list of file names in a directory and its sub-directories. Yes, you can search the web and may find a software mostly free but I would be hesitant to run unknown programs on my computer.
Look far no more, you have all the tools you need. In old days, DOS (Disk Operating System) provided commands to display the name, size, attribute of files in any directory and also it can save it in a file.
This video presents two ways, the first by using the command line and the second by creating batch file.
You can move the batch file to where you want the list of files and with simple click the list is compiled.
The created file is ASCII file with no format it can be opened by Word, Excel, Wordpad, Notepad, Firefox, Chrome,
The “list file” can be named anything but file extension can help you to assign which program to open it.
