2 hours later, we climbed the 2,600 feet and 3.5 miles to the top of Brokeoff Mountain. 400,000 years ago, this mountain was once part of 11,500 foot volcano. From this vista, it is possible to see the California's Central Valley, Mount Shasta, Mount Lassen and the Great Basin. This is the toughest climb at Mount Lassen and is well worth the effort.
