Cadets from Class 108 complete a forcible entry Denver Drill firefighter rescue scenario. Unfortunately, sometimes firefighters find themselves in need of rescue. When they do, we want skilled rapid intervention teams (RIT) available to rescue them. In this video cadets will utilize a saw to cut through bars and make entry into the training tower window. They will then complete the Denver Drill to rescue the downed firefighter.
The Denver Drill was created after the death of Engineer Mark Langvardt of the Denver Fire Department in Colorado. In 1992, Langvardt was working a commercial fire and became separated from his crew following a floor collapse that trapped him in a small storage room.
