The Fez Medina dates back to the 9th century and is the world's largest Medina. It was made an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981 because of its historical, cultural and architectural significance. But most importantly it is a living museum of Moroccan traditions.
The Medina in Fez is made up of over 9,000 alleyways and is the world's largest car-free zone. It has over 300 mosques and is the cultural heart of Morocco. The Medina offers an authentic look at how Morocco has blended ideas and rituals from across North Africa, the Mediterranean and the Middle East for over a thousand years.
The Souk is the lifeblood of its people. It's where they shop, gossip, earn a living and met travelers from across the globe. It's been this way since the 9th century.
