Mount just about anything to the RACKTIME Snapit bike rack system using the Snapit adapter! I have a Cannondale Tesoro Neo on-road/off-road e-bike (which I absolutely LOVE). I wanted a very specific cargo/pannier bag, one that had just the right pockets for me and flexibility. The one I found that I personally love is the ROCKBROS Bike Pannier pack (link below). But the one thing I didn’t care for was the Velcro straps used to attach it to the rack, particularly since my e-bike has fenders. I could get the bag attached, but couldn’t take it off easily. It was a pain! So riding to my favorite pub, then popping the bag off to go in… not a great option.
I found a number of quick-release options online, but they required me to replace the existing cargo rack that came from the factory from Cannondale. I thought my rack was nothing special, until I looked closer and discovered the “RackTime” (or racktime) logo. Turns out my built-in rack is part of the “Snapit” system, and I didn’t even know it!! I checked with a friend who has the same bike, purchased from a different store, and he didn’t know it either. So how can I make my favorite cargo/pannier bag work with the built-in Snapit system? This video shows how. I’m trying to pay it forward for other folks in my situation. I spent hours scouring the interwebs trying to figure out what I was dealing with, and how to make it work. Turns out it’s quite simple, with the addition of an inexpensive snapit adapter piece. This piece could be used to mount just about ANYTHING to the back of your bike with ANY racktime snapit cargo rack. So if you’re looking for how to mount a cat-carrier to your racktime bike rack, this could work!
NOTES:
- The bike cargo rack that comes with this bike is part of the racktime snapit “version 1”. Version 2 of snapit always says “snapit 2.0” and doesn’t have the 4 little holes you’ll see in the video. If you have a bike that has version 2.0, there’s a different adapter available for you. The process I outline should work for either version though!
- Total assembly time here is literally about 30 minutes.
- Tools needed: a drill, maybe an old plastic jug, a sharpie, and of course a cold beer.
NOTE: I do NOT get cash for clicking on this stuff; just offering my opinion. No endorsements or such.
