Des Moines Public Schools students and staff members can now access free Wi-Fi on the school bus.
The district recently launched "DMPS On The Go," a program providing Wi-Fi service on all 126 school buses in the district.
More than 14,000 Des Moines students ride a school bus on a typical school day, according to DMPS. As such, the district hopes students can use Wi-Fi on their way home or while traveling to out-of-town events to complete homework for the day.
“Each day, thousands of students rely on our buses to get to and from school and activities," said Samantha Sonnichsen, Director of Transportation for DMPS. "‘DMPS On The Go’ ensures that this travel time can also be learning time, adding real value to their educational journey.”
