What’s IRS IP PIN?
An Identity Protection (IP) PIN is a six-digit number that prevents someone else from filing a tax return using your Social Security number.
It serves as a protection for tax-related identity theft. The IRS used to provide this service only to a confirmed victim who suffered from tax fraud, but starting this year, you may voluntarily opt into the IP PIN program to protect yourself.
Get an IP PIN number so no one can file a tax return on your behalf! Filing tax return is one of the worst things in the world, but it’s better than someone taking your money away from you!
