Prepared to Serve Luke 1:26-38, Matthew 1:18-25
I) God Prepares Mary, Luke 1:26-38
• God speaks to prepare us for His wondrous work.
• God sends angel, Gabriel, to prepare Mary.
• Greeting, v.28.
• Specific points for Mary to serve: Favor, will conceive,
have a son named Jesus, called Son of God, given
David’s throne forever.
• Mary’s response, “How?”
• Gabriel explains.
• V.38 Mary humbly accepts the call as God’s servant.
II) God Prepares Joseph, Matthew 1:18-25
• Joseph needed preparation for his role.
• He had considered breaking engagement.
• Angelic visit in a dream: take Mary as a wife, name child
Jesus.
• V.24-25 Joseph & Mary act on information given.
III) God Prepares Us
• God calls/prepares us as well.
• Call to repent, from darkness into His light.
• Training, equipped to serve the Lord.
