This video shares the inspiring journey of Mr. Abdi Arab, a 19-year-old boy from Kenya diagnosed with Osteosarcoma of the Tibia, which had unfortunately spread to his lungs. Initially treated with Chemotherapy in Nairobi, Kenya, his condition showed minimal improvement, and amputation was recommended as the only option. Seeking an alternative, he travelled to Apollo Hospitals, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, where Dr. T.P.S. Bhandari, Senior Consultant Surgical Oncologist, and his expert team undertook his care.
After a few cycles of Chemotherapy at Apollo Hospitals, the team performed a Limb-Salvage Surgery, successfully excising the tumour in his leg and replacing the affected bone with a titanium prosthesis. Simultaneously, Robotic Lung Surgery was conducted to remove two small nodules, measuring 5 mm and 3 mm, using advanced ICG dye technology for precise identification and removal.
