Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is when a person experiences too much, uncontrollable anxiety for at least six months. In order to diagnose a person with GAD, this uncontrollable anxiety must be accompanied by 3 of the following symptoms: Fatigue, irritability, insomnia, restlessness and lack of concentration.
Treatment with antidepressants is the first line treatment for generalized anxiety disorder. The goal of treatment in to reduce the severity and frequency of symptoms.
