Is Your Baby is Having Abnormal Urethralmiates?
Is Your Baby is Diagnosed as a Case of Hypospadias?
Let's discuss Hypospadias. Hello Friends, I am Dr. Kalpesh Patil, a Pediatric & Neonatal Laparoscopic Surgeon practicing in Pune, Owner of KP's Cherubs Child Clinic.
What is Hypospadias?
Hypospadias is basically an abnormal opening of the urethral meatus, which is because of developmental anomalies. It might be because of some Chromosomal Abnormalities, because of some Enzyme deficiencies. The exact etiology of Hypospadias is yet not known, but there are certain experiments are going on.
Why You Should Be Worried About Hypospadias?
Hypospadias is abnormal urethral meatus because of which the baby is not able to pass urine from the tip of the penis. Sometimes there might be associated penile curvature which might be a problem for the process called sexual intercourse in his adulthood and that is why you should be worried about Hypospadias. There is no other treatment than surgery for Hypospadias disease. There are multiple methods available depending upon the severity of Hypospadias disorder. When urethral meatus is distal then the complexity of the disease and the complexity of the surgery become prominent.
How long does the Surgery Take Place?
Usually, all such surgeries are done under complete general anesthesia. The ideal age for going for the operation is 6 months beyond and before 2 years of age. As the baby starts gaining physiological penile erections and chances of failure of the procedures are more.
What is the Future of these Procedures?
What will be the Future of the Baby?
Is there any Effect on his Sexual potency in his Adulthood?
These are the multiple questions. This surgery is absolutely safe. It is to be done as early as possible at an early age. And rather than causing any side effects, it will definitely help babies during their future life while having sexual intercourse. So the babies who are having severe penile curves, require penile chordee corrections. So you may come across with the types of Hypospadias like,
1. Mild Hypospadiasis Variant (Grandular Hypospadiasis)
2. Severe Hypospadiasis Variant (Penoscrotal Hypospadiasis)
