A woman is in a "serious condition" after being shot at her home near the Jaguar factory in Solihull.
She was rushed to hospital following the incident which happened shortly before 9am.
The woman was shot in the shoulder in what West Midlands Police believe to be "an isolated incident".
Images show a police car blocking the residential road with Birmingham Live reporting residents have seen officers searching through bins as they continue to investigate the incident.
West Midlands Police said in a statement: "Police are investigating after a woman was shot in the shoulder at a house on Dovehouse Lane in Solihull.
The woman was rushed to hospital in a serious condition

"The woman has been taken to hospital in a serious condition.
"The incident was reported at 8.49am this morning (18 December). No arrests have been made, but officers believe this is an isolated incident.
"Our main priority is the safety and security of the public; specialist officers are in the area and local schools have been advised accordingly.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said in a statement: "We were called by police at 8.50am. We sent two ambulances and a paramedic officer.
"One patient, a woman, was treated and conveyed to hospital."
