Emily tells how an evening of drinking alcohol led to a sequence of events that changed her life. At the time, she set out just wanting to have a good time, but after her experience with alcohol her attitude to drinking has changed significantly.
Emily was so drunk after leaving a bar that she agreed to the offer of help finding a taxi from a man she barely knew, with devastating consequences. She was sexually assaulted in a nearby park.
The effect of alcohol on Emily is explored through scientific analysis and highlights how behaviour can change dramatically when drinking. This is shown through interviews, reconstructions and scientific graphics.
This clip is from the BBC series Just a Few Drinks. Four teenagers talk about how drinking alcohol had a damaging effect on their lives. The science of how drinking alcohol affects the body is also explored, highlighting how behaviour can change dramatically as a result.

Teaching PSHE or Modern Studies?
Pupils could discuss why young people choose to drink alcohol and research the extent of young people's alcohol use. Pupils could research the impact of alcohol on the body and how this can make people vulnerable to poor decision making, assault or accidents. It could also be used to explore pupils' responsibility to protect their peers if they believe them to be vulnerable or at risk.
This clip will be relevant for teaching teenagers about personal welfare and the effects of drink and drugs for PSHE or Modern Studies.
