Gigafactory Texas on 25 May 2021! This is where the Cyber Truck and Model Y will be built!
Sunny early, but rain returned at end of the drone flight and is forecasted to be so for the rest of today. Two new concrete columns arrived on trucks (I got to get close to them!) and these are destined for the casting machine structure extension in the northeast corner of the main foundation. Due to the weather and recent heavy rains, most of the activity today was on the interior, but still, a lot to see all around the site as well.

Here are the highlights from today's video:
- Work on the west side of the highway was idle this morning, most likely due to effects of all the recent rains. Most of the earthmoving equipment was parked together waiting for the ground to dry up a bit.
- The water detention pond on the south continues to be reconfigured by getting filled in with dirt, the old pond is being shaped into a water detention pond a bit farther south, and preparations for road work continue. The overall effect seems to be adding more land area between the pond and the factory main structure.
- The footing area in the southwest of the foundation area is filled to overflowing with steel parts and more work to complete the perimeter grade beam and any remaining footings continues. With the number of cranes and parts in this area, the west steel structure assembly should accelerate now.
- The west steel structure continues to grow tot eh south across the entire width of the structure, now two sections farther south than the north end of the stamping machine structure for a reference. Work on the west exterior wall installation continues, as well as interior work.
- The central open area is very muddy and has a lot of standing water, so not a lot of changes have occurred in the past 48 hours. It appears work on the water vaults installation in the large pit is the current priority.
- The battery cell structure in the northwest of the foundation area continues interior work, including lots of trenching and concrete forms/pours on the ground floor and rebar installation on the second and third floors ahead of concrete pours which should happen later this week. Because a large area inside this structure is open from the ground to the main roof, work to complete concrete pours should quickly finish this part of the construction.
- Two massive concrete columns arrived on site this morning, destined as part of the casting machine area extension in the northeast corner to complete this area of the factory. It is likely they will begin column installation on the west footings (nearest the paint shop) and then work towards the east. To do this, the large Stabilis tanks will need to be removed soon.
- Looking at other areas on the north and east sides of the overall site, we see a bit of slowed progress due to all the rains and the muddy conditions. The forecast begins to have drier weather towards the end of the week, and then progress should begin to pick up.
