China claims it has no interest in interfering in the US November elections and the mere suggestion of its foreign influence amounts to “absurd” and “ridiculous” logic.
China's Foreign Ministry said Beijing’s rising criticism of the US, which has recently included sniping over 5G, COVID-19, Hong Kong and the South China Sea, has not been an attempt to sway the outcome of the election in November but rather a “just” and necessary response to America’s interference in its internal affairs.
China’s defensive remarks came days after US National counter-intelligence and Security Centre Director William Evanina pointed the finger squarely at the Communist nation.
In an “overview of foreign threats to the 2020 election”, Mr Evanina highlighted Beijing's preference that “unpredictable” President Donald Trump loses the election.
