Recording with MiC on your iPad or iPhone is easy.
Connect MiC using the provided cable
Connect headphones or powered speakers to the iPad or iPhone headphone output
Launch GarageBand
Create a new song
Choose Audio recorder
Turn monitor on
Adjust Gain

With MiC's multicolor LED you get a clear view of proper gain level
if it's more red than green you will want to turn it down a bit
Also the meter in GarageBand should stay under "0" for the most part.
An occasional peak over is fine here as well.

Once your level is set, you are ready to record.
