STORYLINE:
Ukrainian residents in Madrid commemorated the first anniversary of the conflict in Ukraine with a gathering followed by a march that ended at the City Hall on Sunday.
Among the participants, United States ambassador in Spain, Julissa Reynoso, reiterated her country's support to Ukraine.
"We will continue to support you until the end," she said.
Demonstrators marched chanting "Today Ukraine, tomorrow Europe" and "glory to Ukraine", carrying banners calling for peace and the end of Russian aggression.
Ukrainian songs played along with dance performances, and the crowd was silence as one girl sang "Imagine" by John Lennon.
Tatiana Oricova, Ukranian and resident in Spain, felt gratitude for Spain's solidarity with her country.
“I just wanted to thank the citizens of Spain and Spain itself and all the other countries that have come to this demonstration today, for your friendship, for your support and solidarity," she said.
