A meeting between Kenya's ruling party and the opposition called by the electoral commission to iron out sticky issues ahead of fresh elections has been aborted. This after the opposition walked out in protest against plans by the ruling party to amend electoral laws.
The ruling Jubilee Party on Thursday presented in parliament proposals to change the electoral laws to, among other things prevent the Supreme Court from annulling election results. The opposition says it will not part in the talks unless Jubilee withdraws the laws which says are aimed at sanitising the flaws of the nullified August elections.
