Importance of sunscreen when you have acne or acne prone skin :

Very often I see patients who have acne skip sunscreen because they feel it is too thick & stick and could worsen their acne. Or, patients with acne prone skin are so busy trying to prevent acne by using actives, that they forget or are unaware of the need for sunscreen.
Here is why applying sunscreen is actually super important for you if you’re dealing with acne or have an acne prone skin :

- sunscreen reduces / protects you from oxidative stress. Oxidative stress is the very root cause or underlying trigger of acne.
- sunscreen protects your skin from inflammation, which in simple words is the contributor to making your acne red and big and painful.
- sunscreen helps prevent PIH or the red / brown marks that acne leaves behind
- most of you with acne are using some kind of active to treat it. This makes the skin a little more vulnerable and sensitive. Leading to an even greater need for sunscreen

The trick is to choose the right sunscreen that isn’t too heavy in your skin and that doesn’t clog your pores. But skipping sunscreen is a NO NO.
