The BBC has reportedly 'acknowledged' paying lower taxes in India than its liability. Two CBDT officials told Hindustan Times that the BBC has been found evading taxes and has admitted to underreporting of ₹40 crore of its income in tax returns. This comes months after surveys by the Indian Income Tax Department. Initially, the BBC terms the tax surveys as vendetta by the government after the broadcaster aired a controversial documentary on PM Narendra Modi and Gujarat riots. Watch this video for details.
