Don’t try to raise stomach acid if you have gastritis 🔥
Gastritis means that the lining of your stomach is inflamed. You likely feel:
🤕stomach pain, indigestion, acid reflux, heartburn, nausea, vomiting or other digestive symptoms.
🚫Trying to raise stomach acid while you have gastritis is NOT the best or first thing to do!
You first must:
1. Identify why you have gastritis and get rid of it
2. Build up the stomach lining with the right nutrients
3. then you can start to raise stomach acid
📌There are several things that can contribute to gastritis:
1. H. pylori infection
2. Other viral or bacteria infections
3. Chronic NSAIDs use (aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, others)
4. Too much alcohol
5. Bile reflux
6. Stress
7. Autoimmune disorders
8. Food-derived inflammation (whether it’s inflammatory foods or individual food sensitivities)
📌Build up the lining with certain nutrients like
- DGL, slippery elm, marshmallow root, aloe vera
- Zinc and glutamine
- Quercetin and other antioxidants
📌Then you can attempt to restore normal levels of stomach acid using:
- Apple cider vinegar: diluted, add to salads, or in capsules
- Ginger: add to meals or make a tea
- Lemon: add to meals, salad, water, or tea
- Betaine HCL: use with caution
- Digestive bitters
If you have H Pylori, you must make sure it’s eradicated before👀
Remember this is for educational purposes. Talk to your doctor. And if you’re interested in working with a functional dietitian (hello👋), book an assessment session (link in bio). I’ve simplified the steps but there are a lot of details in each one.
