Suppressors have been around for 120 years and have numerous myths attributed to them. Some of these myths were never true, some used to be true, and others are true. We flew to Utah to ask SilencerCo to help dispel these silencer myths and had the chance to shoot some of their firearms.
Is it a Silencer or a Suppressor? The answer is yes. We call them suppressors because they suppress the noise from guns but they don't truly 'silence' them like you see on the movies. Having said that, the ATF regulates these items and the term they use is Silencer because it's the term on Hiram Percy Maxim's patent, so use whatever term you want and you'll be right!
