The heterologous expression of the protein TVAG_474360 in Tetratrichomonas gallinarum induces the formation of additional striated filaments. A single straight and thick rod-like structure traverses the cells centrally, which protrudes from the anterior- and posterior ends of the cell. This phenotyp is shown in the mutant cell on the right.
