The HTMS Chakri Naruebet is the world's smallest aircraft carrier! Her motto is "rule the sky, rule the sea." At the cost of $258 million, the tiny carrier was designed to carry 6 A V-8 S matadors, including 6 S-70B Seahawk helicopters, or upto 14 helicopters if required. It's the first carrier to be operated by a Southeast Asian country, and was built by the Spanish firm Bazan, at Ferrol Spain, and looks same as the Spain's Principe de Asturias class light helicopter carrier. Chakri is the flag ship of Royal Thai Navy, and referred to as offshore patrol helicopter carrier. She displace some 11,000 tons, and crew includes 393 sailors, 142 aircrew and 62 officers. For self defense, the carrier is armed with 3 Sadral launchers, for Mistral surface-to-air missiles, and two 0.5-inch machine guns. Its range is 10,000 nautical miles, and top speed is 25 knots. Chakri serves to protect the nation's interest by sea, and transportation of Thailand's royal family.
