Our partners and spouses are ideal to help us heal by providing us with a new emotional experience that doesn't repeat past traumas. We define what a corrective emotional experience is, talk about the essential qualities that need to be in place in order to have an impact, and I provide some examples of actually phrases that have transpired in the therapy room with other couples.
