Friends and family members of victims onboard Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 are commemorating the eighth anniversary of the plane's downing.
289 people died – including 38 Australians –when the MH17 plane was shot down by Russian separatists while flying over Eastern Ukraine in 2014.
The European Union released a statement reiterating its commitment to establish further accountability and achieve justice for the victims - saying:
“The European Union takes note of all legal proceedings that are taking place in this regard and expects Russia to accept its responsibility and to fully cooperate with efforts to establish accountability.”
