This fixed chain mooring was filmed at an extreme low tide in August 2012 off the South Beach Studland Bay Dorset. Although this old mooring is inshore of the seagrass meadows (and thus not alleged to be causing any damage to the meadows), it does clearly show that there is no major scaring of the sand on the sea bed around the mooring. In fact the seabed looks 99.9% undisturbed by the heavy chain and mooring tackle just proves that conservationists are wrong in alleging these fixed chain moorings are causing any harm to the seagrass or seabed. These moorings do provide a haven for small marine life to hide in around the seaweed and marine growth that attaches itself to these tackle. Deeper Studland Bay mooring chains attract even larger clumps of seaweed and marine growth because they do not dry out on big tides as this one does.
