In today's roofing insight, Phillip Dalton explains how much overhang a roof needs at the gutter and what happens if you leave too much roofing material.
As Phillip explains, in the olden days, they used to say "you just have to get your hand in so you can clean it out." Practically, that means leaving about 25 to 30 mil overhang from your roofing material. This will ensure the water discharges from the roof into the gutter and flows away nicely.
