Have you ever heard of a PID espresso machine for €200? Have you ever heard of such a machine that was also made in Italy? In this video, we are going to look at the the diminutive Gaggia Espresso machine. We'll unbox it, observe its design, and test it out right away for an espresso and milk foam. I will also give some impression of the quality of materials used (spoiler alert: it's super light, not very heavy duty). But, this could open up the espresso world to lots of new people. Let's see how it fares.
Notes after making the video:
1) Shower screen is kinda weird, because only half the surface area is covered.
2) Initial temperature tests are inconclusive.
3) Stock OPV provides too high a pressure seemingly, for non-pressurized extractions. They go really fast, and the water squirts out sometimes between the grouphead gasket and basket rim.
4) 53.3 mm basket from IMS B62.52 does not fit (too large)
