The Rio Olympic torch and torch relay route were unveiled on Friday in Brasilia, capital of Brazil.
Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff and Carlos Nuzman, president of the 2016 Rio Games, along with other officials, were present at the unveiling ceremony.
The planned relay route shows that the torch will visit 300 cities and towns before reaching Rio de Janeiro's Maracana stadium on Aug. 5 2016 for the opening ceremony of the Games.
The torch will travel nearly 20,000 kilometers of Brazilian roads and fly some 16,000 kilometers over the north and mid-west parts of the country. A total of 12,000 people will participate in the torch relay.
Rousseff said at the ceremony that "when we see the Rio 2016 Olympic Games torch, we feel the responsibility and emotion grow."
The torch's design and triangular texture also represent the three Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect.
The design was created by Sao Paulo-based design studio Chelles and Hayashi, which won a tender over more than 70 agencies.
